Bradley Barcola, 23-year-old striker for Paris Saint-Germain and the French national team, spoke to TF1 after the 2-1 victory against Iceland (2026 World Cup qualifiers) last night, in which he scored a goal. He was understandably very satisfied and assured that he was in good shape.
Barcola: “I’m used to playing here so it’s easier for me to score”
Nothing came easy tonight, but the main thing is the win?
We’ll just remember the score — it was a tough game from start to finish. We came up against a team that sat very deep, pressed us at times but stayed low. It was complicated, but we managed to score. That’s what we’ll take away tonight.
What was said at halftime?
We told ourselves we needed to play faster, to launch quick attacks because when we took our time, they regrouped and it became hard to break them down. The instruction was to play as quickly as possible and that’s what we did on the second goal. It worked well.
At home at the Parc des Princes, you score every time for France.
I’m used to playing here so it’s easier for me to score (smiles).
Barcola: “I try to give my all.”
A big step toward qualification?
We knew these were the two toughest matches and we had to win them. Even though today was harder than against Ukraine, we’re happy — we won.
Did you earn personal points with the World Cup in mind?
Every player in the French team has the goal of playing in the World Cup. I try to give my all.
How are you physically?
I’m good, feeling very, very well.
