Bradley Barcola, the 23-year-old forward signed by Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2023 on a contract running until June 2028, has established himself at both PSG and the French national team. However, he is now poised to leave for Liverpool after failing to secure a role beyond that of a substitute in big matches and refusing to extend his contract in Paris. Both The Athletic and journalist Florian Plettenberg (Sky Sport) confirmed on Thursday that the transfer is nearing completion.

The Athletic:

Liverpool have reached agreement in principle with Paris Saint-Germain to sign forward Bradley Barcola. The clubs agreed terms of the proposed deal overnight for a package around £120million overall, of which over £100m is guaranteed.

Negotiations are being handled by sporting director Richard Hughes and Fenway Sports Group president Mike Gordon, and important last details are being ironed out on Thursday morning.

Nothing has been signed yet, and the deal is yet to be completed, but a potential transfer could have knock on effects for Cody Gakpo, who has been repeatedly linked to Tottenham Hotspur and has been the subject of interest from Manchester City this summer.

🚨💣 BREAKING | Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain are in the final stages of negotiations for Bradley Barcola.

Only details are left to be clarified. A matter of hours, maximum a few days.

Certainty only comes with an official announcement, but doubts are fading regarding this deal, with several journalists agreeing this Thursday morning that the transfer is now very close to completion. The broad outlines appear to be settled; only the “details” remain to be ironed out. That said, transfers have been known to stall at this stage—especially when nothing is concrete, as transfer market rumors can shift rapidly.

However, it would now be surprising if a deal failed to materialize before the transfer window closes on September 1st. Barcola looks set to embark on this new adventure, while PSG finalizes a financially impressive exit. Let’s hope the good news is confirmed soon.
