Presnel Kimpembe, Paris Saint-Germain’s 29-year-old defender, spoke to PSG TV about the start of his stay in the United States for the Club World Cup (June 15 – July 13). He underlined his determination to have a great tournament.
Kimpembe “a competition that is important for us.”
“The group’s state of mind?
We’re in top form! The Club World Cup is an important competition for us. We’re coming here with very clear objectives: to go as far as possible and win it. We’re all ready for this new challenge.
Kimpembe “We love it, we love winning.”
How do you approach the Club World Cup?
It’s a new challenge, a new objective. We’re competitors. We love winning. We’re going to prepare as well as we can to bring home this new trophy.
2 matches in Los Angeles?
We’re expecting a big atmosphere. We know it’s a legendary stadium here. We love it, the fervor, the heat and the atmosphere! We’re prepared for that and we’re going to do everything we can to play good matches.”
PSG have won the Champions League, the “ultimate” title. It could be satiated and approach the competition almost relaxed. That would not be incomprehensible. But both coach Luis Enrique and the players are determined to keep on winning.
It will be a team without pressure. Whatever happens, the 2024-2025 season has been a great success overall. But it would be a shame to end on a high note of disappointment. Paris has the potential to go far, and that must be its ambition. That’s what a great club needs.
Even if there can never be a guarantee in soccer. There are some great competitors and a match is never simple. Kimpembe and his team-mates need to get into the swing of things straight away, and continue with the team spirit that has won over the world. And have won every title so far this season. It would be great to continue.
