Vincent Labrune, President of the French Professional Football League, spoke to L’Equipe about Paris Saint-Germain, and in particular its investor, whom he vigorously defended. He spoke of the importance of Qatar Sports Investissement for French soccer.
Everything Labrune says is true: PSG has largely contributed to keeping French soccer in 5th place in the UEFA index. Moreover, today, 25th place in the Champions League is mocked by everyone, but we mustn’t forget that if Brest, Lille or Monaco can shine in the competition, it’s also because PSG did the job in previous years.
That said, it’s incredible to see Labrune, former president of Olympique de Marseille, coming to PSG’s rescue. This image makes no sense, other than to show that the boss of French club soccer is PSG. Labrune is eating out of Nasser Al-Khelaïfi’s hand. Money is king, it’s sad, but we shouldn’t fall for it, Labrune is an opportunist, he knows what he’s doing.
