Day 2 of the Champions League 2024-2025 league phase was played this week. UEFA then organizes various fan votes. Paris Saint-Germain, who lost to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium (2-0, video summary Arsenal/PSG), is not among the nominees for player of the week. But there is Ligue 1, with Brest winning 0-4 against RB Salzburg. There’s Karim Adeyemi (22-year-old Borussia Dortmund striker), Mehdi Taremi (32-year-old FC Porto striker), Dusan Vlahovic (24-year-old Juventus Turin striker) and Adballah Sima (23-year-old Stade Brestois striker).

We’re not surprised not to find PSG in this selection after a generally disappointing match. Even if some Parisians were pretty good (like Achraf Hakimi or João Neves), there’s a huge amount of competition in this competition. You have to score goals.

Or even score goals, given that there are only strikers in this squad. In any case, we’re delighted to see a player from Ligue 1. A reminder that this championship isn’t so bad. Like Lille’s victory over Real Madrid.
