On Tuesday, Paris Saint-Germain travelled to take on Le Mans in the last 8 of the French Cup (0-2 video highlights Le Mans/PSG). Speaking to PSG TV on the sidelines, Paris Saint-Germain coach Luis Enrique spoke of his side’s success.
Enrique “I think we played a good game.”
“It was a classic French Cup match, with a dangerous and unpredictable opponent. There’s a lot we can’t control. But I think we played a good game.
We’ve qualified for the quarter-finals, and we were able to give some players time to play and others a rest.
Presnel’s return?
That’s great news. I think he’s happy. It’s a special moment for him, and when we’re all together, everything’s easier.”
A controlled match for the Parisians, who came out on top against a Le Mans team that failed to create any real danger during the 90 minutes. The French Cup is one of the capital club’s main objectives. Every stage, every away match is difficult. So, even if this victory seems logical and easy, we mustn’t downplay it.
The return of Kimpembe is also an important point to note, after almost two years’ absence for the Parisian star. The adventure continues for PSG in this domestic competition, which could see them complete a hat-trick of titles. But in the meantime, there are the quarter-finals to look forward to, and the Rouge et Bleu will find out their future opponents this Thursday at 7.50pm.
