The Stade Bollaert took a monumental beating late on Saturday. RC Lens were at home to Paris Saint-Germain, and had taken control of the game for much of the match, but the club from the capital came back and turned the game on its head in the closing stages. Racing coach Will Still spoke to beIN SPORTS at the end of the match about his side’s 1-2 victory, which was a little against the run of play:
Will Still: “You also have to underline the quality of your opponent”.
It doesn’t pass even if you annoy them, but it doesn’t pass ?
There’s no point standing up to them if you can’t hold on to a result or win. I think there’s a lot of frustration. For long stretches in this match, we did some very consistent things very, very well. I think the second goal was an extraordinary individual effort. We mustn’t get out of position like that, that’s a mistake on our part. You have to be able to say congratulations. There are times when you don’t make the right choice, you don’t make the right move. The opposing keeper made the right saves. It’s frustrating, yes.
So you know where you can improve ?
We knew that from the start. It’s all very well to talk about room for improvement and potential, but there comes a time when you have to show it too. You have to move forward, break new ground, and we’re not yet capable of doing that. We came up against a good team with a lot of individual quality. Quality made the difference today.
