On Matchday 11 of Ligue 1 2024-2025, Paris Saint-Germain take on Angers at the Stade Raymond Kopa this Saturday at 9pm. A match that should at least maintain their lead ahead of November’s international break.

Ligue 1 - Day 11 preview: good finish needed before the break

After their frustrating defeat by Atlético de Madrid on Wednesday, PSG need to focus and regroup quickly to finish on a high note. Watch out for Angers, who are on a 2-game winning streak against Saint-Étienne and Monaco. Paris should have what it takes to come away with a win, but they’ll need to be more effective if they are to avoid a nasty surprise.

Behind them, Olympique de Marseille are favourites against AJ Auxerre (10th), and should be able to apply some pressure at the start of the day. But be warned: the Marseillais have struggled at the Vélodrome this season, and have become increasingly tense. Auxerre, on the other hand, are enjoying a good period of form, and are coming into the game full of confidence following their 4-0 win over Rennes.

Monaco (3rd) must also quickly refocus on the championship after their Champions League match, a 1-0 victory over Bologna which should do them good. The Monegasques are coming off back-to-back defeats in Ligue 1, and it’s time to react to halt their slide. A complicated mission in Strasbourg, even if this promising team is at a slightly more complicated moment than at the start of the season.

Then, on Sunday, there’s a fine clash between Nice (5th) and Lille (4th). Nice will be looking to stay firmly on the Champions League bandwagon, while Lille can put one of their rivals off the pace. Even if it’s close behind.

Especially as Lyon (6th) and Lens (7th) will be overwhelming favourites against Saint-Etienne (16th) and Nantes (14th). But soccer is never that simple. Especially as it’s the always emotionally-charged derby between Lyon and Saint-Etienne that will bring the day to a close.
