PSG suffered, almost “worried”, but they were able to react and finally topple the logically frustrated Lensois. This team, which is keeping its cool and finding solutions, is still progressing in Ligue 1, and has taken 3 points in a busy period, which can only do good.

It also puts the disappointing “competition” even further behind. OM (2nd) could do no better than a draw at the Stade Vélodrome against Strasbourg, confirming that they are far from impregnable at home this season.

Behind them came one of the weekend’s big surprises, with last-placed Montpellier bouncing back with a win over Monaco. The 3rd-placed team confirmed that this is a difficult, even worrying, period. Although there was a clear dominance in the game, the result is negative and accumulates to others. We’ll have to wait and see how each side reacts, as Montpellier may well be able to take advantage of this to hope to stay up.

Lille took full advantage of the situation, winning the other “clash” of the 18th day against Nice. This was enough to secure 3rd place and keep up the pressure on a slowing OM. Behind them, Lyon remain firmly in the race, but may regret not advancing further. Although Toulouse are a team to be wary of, and are close to Europe.

On the maintenance front, Saint-Etienne and Nantes played out a draw that no-one is happy about, but which at least gives them a point. Angers continued to pull away with another victory, this time over Auxerre. Le Havre picked up 1 point against Reims, who are still slipping slowly towards the red zone, while Les Havrais at least maintain their lead over Nantes and Saint-Etienne. Rennes continue to worry, this time losing at Brest.
