Marco Asensio, Paris Saint-Germain’s 28-year-old midfielder/attacker under contract until 2026, has been struggling of late and has been rather sidelined by coach Luis Enrique. So the idea of a mercato departure is taking hold. Fanatik reports that Galatasaray are about to make their move.
“Galatasaray are very interested in Marco Asensio. The Turkish club will hold talks with PSG regarding the player’s situation and cost.”
A relatively credible announcement, but we remain cautious as nothing is yet certain. The Asensio dossier has attracted a number of rumours, except that there has yet to be the slightest confirmation. So we still don’t know whether it will go ahead with Galatasaray. But there is hope. Galatasaray has relaunched a number of great players who were in difficulty at one of Europe’s top clubs.
There is, however, one major obstacle, already encountered with Milan Skriniar (29-year-old defender): the salary. All the more reason to have doubts.
