Ligue 1 - Day 5 review: PSG stumble, OM topple Lyon

PSG disappointed, with a lack of rhythm and creativity. At least they didn’t lose to a very defensive Rémois side after opening the scoring early on. It’s not great, it’s not dramatic.

But it’s clear that we can’t afford to lose too much time or too many points. OM and AS Monaco are in good form. The former managed to win in extra time in Lyon after playing almost the whole match with 10 men (Balerdi was shown the red card). A real performance, at a time when Lyon are once again in turmoil.

Monaco had a more logical win over Le Havre at home, and look set to repeat their success this season. This trio are 4 points ahead of 4th-placed Monaco, and it remains to be seen whether they will continue to lead the way.

It also depends on the teams behind them, such as Rennes and Lens, who played out a draw that suits no one. Lille, meanwhile, are marking time against a fine Strasbourg side. Finally, it’s hard to miss Nice’s 8-0 defeat of Saint-Etienne. A terrible slap in the face for the newly-promoted team, who are still ahead of Angers, who picked up their 2nd point against Nantes.
