The second leg of the playoff was only on Wednesday, but PSG already needs to put the Champions League behind them (even though the Round of 16 draw is this Friday at noon). They must focus on this far from easy away match. Paris needs to be at their best to secure a win and consolidate their first-place position.

Lens (2nd) has a very difficult away game against Strasbourg (7th), who showed great promise last weekend against Lyon (3-1 victory). It’s conceivable that Lens could drop points this weekend, which also features another direct clash, with Lyon (3rd) traveling to Marseille (4th) to close out the weekend. This match could go either way and will at least put some distance between them and Paris Saint-Germain.

Lille (5th) are also in a favorable position in this 24th round of fixtures. Of course, respect must be given to Nantes, who just returned to winning ways against Le Havre (2-0), but Lille are the clear favorites. The challenge will also be managing the post-European period following the Europa League playoff second leg against Red Star Belgrade on Thursday. But that’s part of the season when you aspire to compete on the continental stage.

Behind them, Rennes (6th) will be lurking and will try to build on Franck Haise’s promising start last week. However, Toulouse is always an opponent to be wary of. The 10th-placed team lacks the consistency needed to secure a better position in the European race, but they are capable of causing problems for everyone. Monaco (8th) is in a similar situation against Angers (12th), with the added pressure of the PSG match.

In the relegation battle, the big duel is between Paris (15th) and Nice (14th), both of whom are struggling to stop their worrying slides. PFC has also just changed coaches, with Antoine Kombouaré replacing Stéphane Gilli. Auxerre (16th) and Metz (18th) will try to put pressure on the loser. Lorient (9th) and Brest (11th) will be no easy task.
