As happens after every round of matches, L’Équipe has named its Team of the Week for Matchday 4 of the 2026-2027 Ligue 1 season, which took place this weekend. Following their 1-0 victory over Brest at the Parc des Princes, Paris Saint-Germain has two players included in the lineup.

The inclusion of Willian Pacho (24-year-old defender) and Matvey Safonov (27-year-old goalkeeper) comes as no surprise, given their rock-solid performances. Their contributions were vital for a PSG side that otherwise put in a rather disappointing display and came close to dropping points. It is rare for PSG players to feature when the team fails to impress, which underscores just how strong these two had to be to help Paris hold firm.
Few other PSG players could realistically have been considered for this selection, aside perhaps from Marquinhos (32-year-old center-back and captain) and Fabian Ruiz (30-year-old midfielder). The former helped the defense stand firm and consistently distributed the ball well, even in tricky situations. The latter made a significant impact after coming on following the injury to Achraf Hakimi (27-year-old right-back).
That said, it is understandable that other players are being highlighted; there is plenty of quality in Ligue 1, and there were several other standout performances this weekend.
