As happens after every round of matches, L’Équipe has named its Team of the Week for Matchday 5 of the 2026-2027 Ligue 1 season, which took place this weekend. Following their 2-1 victory over Olympique de Marseille at the Stade Vélodrome, Paris Saint-Germain has two players included in the lineup.
The inclusion of Marquinhos (32-year-old center-back and captain) and Nuno Mendes (24-year-old left-back) makes perfect sense. The former was solid—despite facing some tricky situations—and scored the winning goal. The latter was impressive for almost the entire match, contributing effectively in both defense and attack. Although he was at fault for an avoidable turnover late in the game that nearly cost them the win, his overall performance stands out more.
Unfortunately, it is hard to see which other Parisians might have made the cut. Désiré Doué (21-year-old midfielder/forward) provided a fine assist with his cross for Ferran Torres (26-year-old forward), but he lacked consistency. Torres scored and made a positive impact, but he came off the bench, and such selections are generally reserved for starters.
Above all, we saw a PSG side that was still too inefficient and shaky at times. Not to mention that there are other excellent players in Ligue 1 who deserve recognition.
