PSG got off to an excellent start against Rennes, taking a rather logical 0-2 lead, except that they seemed to slacken off afterwards and ended up “scaring themselves” in Rennes. However, Rennes were unable to completely break down the Parisians, who were boosted at the end of the match by some hard-hitting changes to finish the job. The points were taken while waiting for Liverpool.

Before that, Monaco had missed out on the opening match of the day after leading for so long against Toulouse, when a mistake cost them an injury-time equaliser. It was a blow for the Monegasques, who were back on form.

At least they saw Marseille and Nice lose next, to Lens and Lyon. Defeats that put PSG even further ahead of a title that seems all but assured. Marseille dominated against Lens, but were punished late on. Les Niçois can also have regrets, with 18 shots to 8. Soccer is like that, and the race for Europe will be all the more exciting for it.

Lille had the good sense to come out on top against Montpellier, even if they didn’t shine. While Brest and Strasbourg are clinging on to their hopes, leaving Angers and Nantes bogged down in the race to stay up, even if they have a slight lead.

The situation is becoming very worrying for Reims, who can no longer react. Le Havre and Saint-Etienne failed to take full advantage of the situation, with a draw that no-one is happy about, but which allows us to make some headway while the others are losing.
