On Matchday 31 of the 2025-2026 Ligue 1 season, Paris Saint-Germain faces Angers at the Stade Raymond-Kopa this Saturday at 7:00 PM CET. A must-win match just days before the first leg of their Champions League semi-final against Bayern Munich (return leg on May 6th), with the league standings remaining very tight.

The matches:

PSG must maintain their momentum in a packed schedule, finding the right balance between winning and preparing for the next round. There’s not much room for error, as Lens is only 4 points behind and appears to be in excellent form. However, the trip to Brest is far from easy. They will need to be wary, even though the 12th-placed team is going through a rough patch and has nothing left to play for. Much like Angers.
Behind them, the new third-placed team, Olympique Lyonnais, absolutely must build on their victory against PSG and remain humble. Auxerre, 16th, isn’t such a prestigious opponent. But they can certainly be dangerous. There have been some very good spells of play, and the energy of the relegation battle shouldn’t be underestimated.
Especially since the European places remain very tight. Lens (4th) will be the clear favorite against a Paris FC side that has secured its place in Ligue 1 and has little left to play for since moving into 10th. Fifth-placed Rennes is in excellent form and will look to take advantage of a Nantes side (17th) reeling from their draw against Brest last weekend and their 3-0 defeat to PSG on Wednesday.
Watch out, Olympique de Marseille (6th) could bounce back in the southern derby. Even though nothing is guaranteed against Nice, 15th, who are known for pulling off surprises. Like on Wednesday when they won in Strasbourg in the Coupe de France semi-final. As for Monaco, currently 7th and having just suffered two disappointing results, their trip to face Toulouse, 11th and without much to play for after two heavy defeats against Lens in Ligue 1 and the Coupe de France, could be an opportunity to climb back up the table.
Finally, in the relegation battle, the duel between Le Havre (14th) and Metz (18th) is worth noting. It’s time for Le Havre to get back to winning ways to secure their safety, while Metz needs a victory to perhaps maintain a glimmer of hope.
