This Friday, Paris Saint-Germain (1st) face Lille (8th) at the Stade Pierre Mauroy in Matchday 2 of the 2026-2027 Ligue 1 season (kick-off at 8:45 PM, CET+). When the Parisian squad for the match was announced, João Neves (21-year-old midfielder) was surprisingly among the absentees. RMC Sport revealed the reason.
João Neves is ill and not making the trip to Lille. There is no physical injury issue for the Portuguese player.
It is unfortunate, as it means the squad is missing a very good player, though it is nothing serious. It would have been beneficial for the Portuguese player to help out and build match fitness, especially since he already missed the Trophée des Champions match against Lens due to a minor physical issue. Hopefully, he will return very soon to continue building momentum. While PSG has excellent options in its squad, it is always preferable to have everyone available and at 100% fitness.
