This Tuesday, Paris Saint-Germain take on Liverpool at Anfield in the return leg of the Champions League Round of 16 2024-2025 (0-1 first leg) (kick-off 9pm, broadcast on Canal+). On the eve of this encounter, the press tried to guess the team that will be fielded by Paris coach Luis Enrique.
Le Parisien (4-3-3) –
Barcola – Dembélé – Kvaratskhelia
Ruiz – Vitinha – Neves
Mendes – Pacho – Marquinhos – Hakimi
Donnarumma.
L’Equipe (4-3-3) –
Kvaratskhelia – Dembélé – Barcola
Ruiz – Vitinha – Neves
Mendes – Pacho – Marquinhos – Hakimi
Donnarumma.
Considering the squad, every team seems possible, but there are bound to be some uncertainties. We saw in the first leg that the Parisian coach “surprised” by fielding Khvicha Kvaratkshelia (24-year-old striker) rather than Désiré Doué (19-year-old midfielder/attacker). Not shocking, but not really expected either.
This time, maybe they’ll both start, or Doué rather than Kvaratkshelia, or it’ll be the same situation…or none at all, although that would be a real surprise. There are a lot of options in this team. In midfield, Warren Zaïre-Emery (19-year-old midfielder) could have his say, as could Gonçalo Ramos (23-year-old striker) up front.
It remains to be seen exactly what Luis Enrique’s game plan will be, whether he wants to score quickly or perhaps wear Liverpool down first. In any case, we’ll need another great performance. We’re sure that a fine team will be fielded, but let’s hope it’s efficient and not too hasty.
