Here’s our saga. The 5 good reasons to follow a match (with some adaptations). We’ll take a look at what’s attractive before each match, with a mix of seriousness and humor. Mind you, this is by no means an exhaustive tour of the subject. We continue here with Paris Saint-Germain’s match against Liverpool at Anfield on Tuesday, as part of the second leg of the Champions League Round of 16 2024-2025 (0-1 first leg, kick-off 9pm, UTC+1).

5 – Anfield.

We love our Parc des Princes, but of course it’s an admirable and particularly well-known stadium. It’s one of the pleasures of this competition to see other great stadiums in Europe. Let’s make the most of it, not forgetting the added atmosphere provided by the Parisian fans.

4 – Dembélé ready to mark his change of dimension?

Ousmane Dembélé (27-year-old striker) is sparkling in 2025, but he still needs to perform at the highest level to fully mark this new milestone, that of the “candidates” for the Ballon d’Or. A performance that contributes to a PSG victory tonight would make his place among the best undeniable.

3 – Kvaratkshelia, ready to “explode”?

Khvicha Kvaratshkelia (24-year-old striker) needed a logical adjustment time when he arrived at PSG this winter from Napoli, especially as it was after a month without playing.

Over the last few games, he has become more comfortable and there’s a feeling that he’s ready to show all his qualities. In particular, he was inches away (offside) from a sublime goal in the first leg, so perhaps he’ll be able to mark the match again with some classy moves.

2 – PSG still need to confirm.

Impressive against Manchester City, PSG were still expected to face a big European team on form. Such was the case with Liverpool, the best team according to many. Paris dominated the first leg and impressed. Except that they didn’t win, and one match is never enough. So they’ll need to put in another great performance tonight, with a win, to confirm their place among the best.

1 – A fine qualification to take.

We can talk about points, duels, quality of play and so on, but at the end of the evening, PSG must above all qualify for the quarter-finals of the Champions League. That’s the goal, the thrill and the hope of a historic title. It would be a shame to miss such a moment.
