Paris Saint-Germain defeated Liverpool 2-0 this Tuesday at Anfield in the second leg of their 2025-2026 Champions League quarter-final (4-0 on aggregate). Following the victory, PSG coach Luis Enrique spoke to Canal+.
Luis Enrique: “A very difficult thing to do.”
Were you right to say it was a tricky match?
Absolutely. If you analyze last year’s match, you know what kind of game we’re going to play. But today, I’m very proud. In the first half, we controlled the game, we played in the opposition’s half, which is very difficult to do. The second half was complicated, there was the atmosphere. There were things we had to do without the ball. They had chances, but we knew we’d have counter-attacks. Over the two legs, I think the qualification is deserved.
Luis Enrique: “We saw a team that’s a European champion and still wants to win.”
Did you learn anything about your team?
Learned, no. There were difficulties, but the players know how to identify the type of match we need. We were able to play long balls to exploit the spaces. We saw a team that’s a European champion and still wants to win.
Any news on the injuries to Doué and Nuno Mendes?
I’m not a doctor, I can’t say. With that kind of intensity, it’s normal to have some problems. We’ll see tomorrow.
