Paris Saint-Germain defeated Liverpool 2-0 this Tuesday at Anfield in the second leg of their 2025-2026 Champions League quarter-final (4-0 on aggregate). Following the victory, PSG coach Luis Enrique spoke to Canal+ in a press conference.
Luis Enrique: “We tried to control the game”
“It was a very good victory. I think that over the two legs, we deserved to qualify. I’m particularly happy with what we did in the first half. We tried to control the game by playing in the opposition’s half, and that was, for me, our best moment during the match. In the second half, it was very difficult because we took a lot of risks and it was complicated.”
Luis Enrique: “When you see the support from our fans, it’s incredible.”
“We tried to play on the counter-attack, and after the first and second goals, we were able to play with more control in the final minutes. What makes me most proud of this team is the mentality we saw, the mentality we showed to the fans in this legendary stadium. When you see the support from our fans, it’s incredible. We’re very happy for them and we’re looking forward to our opponent in the semi-finals.”
A hard-fought victory for Luis Enrique’s men in this quarter-final second leg. Liverpool dominated part of the match, creating chances and, above all, hoping to score the goal that would have allowed them to believe in their chances. Unfortunately for them, that moment never came, and the stars went out after Ousmane Dembélé’s goal silenced Anfield, who were determined to carry their team.
PSG continues its European run and nothing seems to be able to stop it. The semi-final will be against either Real Madrid or Bayern Munich. Two formidable opponents, but ones that the capital club can once again overcome. The momentum is there, the talent and experience are there, so of course we can believe in a second star with two matches to go before a potential new final.
