João Neves, the 21-year-old Paris Saint-Germain midfielder, spoke to PSG TV after PSG’s 2-0 victory over Liverpool on Tuesday at Anfield in the second leg of their 2025-2026 Champions League quarter-final (4-0 on aggregate).

João Neves: “We must always respect our opponents.”

“At this point in the season, it’s normal to struggle in these kinds of matches, but always as a team. We know we make our opponents suffer too. We must always respect our opponents: defend when we need to defend, and attack when we need to attack. I’ve been at the club for two years, and my journey here has already been incredible.”

João Neves: “I think great things are still to come”

“I think great things are still to come, and for Paris Saint-Germain to reach a third consecutive Champions League semi-final is part of a grand project. I came here because I know what Paris is worth: the players, the fans, everyone. And I think Paris Saint-Germain will continue to grow as a club.”

Playing a quarter-final second leg at Anfield is never easy for any European team. PSG knew they were going to suffer, and they did suffer during this match. They had to be patient, mentally strong, and above all, confident in their abilities. At this level, the hardest thing isn’t winning a match, but having the mental fortitude to maintain the lead once the momentum and euphoria have faded. The capital club managed to do just that on Tuesday.

Once again, Luis Enrique’s men are showing their determination to win a second star. Three matches away from another historic achievement, PSG remains feared throughout Europe and the main contender to retain its title. Between Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, the Parisian club will face a formidable opponent in the next round, but the Parisians seem ready to take on any challenge.
