Having officially returned to Paris Saint-Germain, Lucas Digne shared his initial thoughts with PSG TV. The 33-year-old French left-back is rejoining a club that has undergone a profound transformation since his first stint. Amidst the emotion, familiar faces, and lofty ambitions, the new Parisian is fully savoring his homecoming.
Digne: “This story was meant to continue”
Lucas, you are officially back at Paris Saint-Germain! What is your initial feeling?
“I want to thank President Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, Luis Campos, and coach Luis Enrique. It’s a great show of confidence, and I am very happy to return to Paris Saint-Germain. I’m also impressed. The club has changed; it has reached a whole new level. It’s truly incredible to be back here! The Campus? Everything is set up for performing at the highest level.”
What memories does your first spell at the club bring back?
“It was a time of learning about the very highest level and excellence. It shaped me as both a player and a person; I learned a huge amount alongside players like Zlatan Ibrahimović and Thiago Silva and won many trophies. It was a wonderful story, and it was meant to continue. I can’t wait to meet the squad that has won two Champions League titles!”
Lucas Digne isn’t just returning to a former club; he is coming back to the place where he first experienced the demands of elite-level football between 2013 and 2015, before continuing his development abroad. Eleven years later, the defender rejoins a Paris Saint-Germain side established at the pinnacle of European football. His international experience and familiarity with the club should allow him to settle in quickly while providing a reliable option on the left flank.
Digne: “You feel at home right away”
“I’m looking forward to seeing Marquinhos again. We signed here at the same time, and now he’s the captain and has had an amazing journey—it’s fantastic for him!” »

You’ll be seeing some familiar faces again—whether it’s Marquinhos, your France teammates, or Luis Enrique, your former coach. Does that make settling in easier?
“Yes, of course; knowing people makes a lot of things easier. I’m really looking forward to seeing Marquinhos again. We signed here at the same time; now he’s the captain and has had an incredible journey—it’s amazing for him! I know Luis Enrique from Barcelona; we had a great experience together. I’m eager to reunite with my France teammates, as well as other people I knew during my first stint here, like the kit men. It’s really nice, and you feel at home very quickly.”
Having so many familiar touchpoints is a major advantage for a new signing expected to hit the ground running. Digne knows Luis Enrique from their time together at FC Barcelona and is reuniting with several French internationals, but his bond with Marquinhos holds special significance. Having arrived in Paris together in 2013, the two men are now crossing paths again with very different career trajectories and statuses. This familiarity should speed up his adaptation to both the dressing room and Paris’s style of play.
Digne: “This club is built to win”
You’re returning with more experience and a new status. What are your ambitions?
“I’m coming back as a man. I’m a different player, too. I have more maturity and experience, and I want to bring that experience to the squad and win a lot of trophies. This club is built to win; it’s in its DNA. The squad is extremely ambitious—they show it year after year—and that’s why everyone wants to come and play in Paris.”
You’ll also be returning to the Parc des Princes and the Paris Saint-Germain fans. Do you have a message for them?
“The Parc is something magical!” “Once you’ve played here, you want to come back. Returning here with Aston Villa in the Champions League was a magical moment. It’s a stadium that gives you goosebumps. I am hugely grateful to the fans for the support I received before signing, and I can’t wait to see them again at the Parc des Princes to celebrate plenty of victories this year.”
The Frenchman returns in a role radically different from the one he held during his first stint. He is no longer a young prospect tasked with challenging Maxwell for the spot, but an established player capable of mentoring the squad and immediately meeting Luis Enrique’s demands. His enthusiasm for the Parc des Princes also reinforces the sense that this is a return he truly wanted. For Digne, the circle has come full circle, but the goal now is to write a second chapter that is even more memorable than the first.
