João Neves, Paris Saint-Germain’s 20-year-old midfielder, stopped off in front on the press after the 3-1 victory over Rennes (video highlights PSG/Rennes) this Friday at the Parc des Princes as part of Matchday 6 of Ligue 1 2024-2025. He spoke about the impressive Bradley Barcola (22-year-old striker with a brace), the comparison made between him and Marco Verratti, and coach Luis Enrique.
Neves “In training, I try to defend on him but it’s complicated.”
Barcola impressive?
Bradley Barcola is a very good player. I’m impressed by him, he’s a very good player with the ball. Technically, he’s incredible. In training, I try to defend against him, but it’s complicated.
The French say I play like Verratti?
I’m very happy that people think that about me! I try to do my best for the team, to push as hard as I can. We always want to win and we played well. I’m very happy to be here, I’m happy with my team-mates, with this city, I feel good.
Neves: “I love his ideas.”
Luis Enrique?
I love his ideas, the way he plays, and that’s what’s best for me, to keep progressing.
