This Sunday evening, Paris Saint-Germain won 2-3 (video highlights Lyon/PSG) against Olympique Lyonnais on Matchday 23 of Ligue 1 2024-2025 at Groupama Stadium. We present you with some of the highlights and lowlights of the victory.
Tops –
Kvaratskhelia
We finally saw the true face of the Georgian. He played with great intensity and in his characteristic style. He was very good in duels and showed his class at times. He’s getting stronger, which is good for PSG.
Hakimi – From anger to laughter
Lyon wanted him to pull the pin, and he responded with a brace. Calmed down by Luis Enrique, he can smile to have escaped the trap. His presence and intensity have made his team win. Hakimi is one of the best on the planet.
23 matches unbeaten
We could have cited Kvaratskhelia’s gesture on Dembélé’s goal, or Ramos’ gesture on Hakimi’s second, but we’ll stop at the 23-match unbeaten run. It’s impossible to deny that this run is incredible, very rare, and we must congratulate ourselves on these results. PSG wins the big games, PSG wins the games it’s not so good at, PSG wins the “little” games.
Flops –
Slackness
Paris slackened off, Lyon created doubts. At least for the general public, that’s what will remain. Unfortunately, today we’re still making instant observations. PSG deserved their victory, but the end of the match gave the media and followers the opportunity to qualify Paris’ strength. All the big teams slack off, especially in a series of matches such as the Parisian club’s. It was a “boring” match for too long.
A “boring” match for too long
Lyon wanted to put the bus on, then make the Parisians pull the pin, whereas as we’ve seen, they have the real weapons to play a soccer match well. Beating PSG is still an achievement, but if the opposition only try from the 80th minute onwards, when PSG stop playing, then Ligue 1 is unlikely to find locomotives on a par with the Parisian club.
A slight wind of panic
It’s been a few weeks since we’ve seen PSG as scared as they were at the end of the match. Far from being in control, the team was struggling to get the ball out. We understand that the team can’t be at 100% all the time, but they should have had more control at the end of the match to avoid these difficulties.
