A Paris Saint-Germain player from 2008 to 2011, Claude Makelele, who later served as Carlo Ancelotti’s assistant until 2013, remains a fervent supporter of the Rouge et Bleu. Speaking to Bein Sport, he expressed his joy and pride following PSG’s victory in the Champions League final against Arsenal (1-1, 4-3 on penalties).
Makelele: “For 10 years now, it’s been the biggest club in France.”
How did you experience PSG’s triumph?
“It was exceptional. I’m happy because now it’s the biggest club in the world. For 10 years now, it’s been the biggest club in France. I’m happy for French football, and I think we should support Paris for what they bring to the world stage.”
For all the former players, seeing PSG reach the top of Europe for the second consecutive time is an incredible source of satisfaction. These men also contributed to building the club. Claude Makélélé experienced a more difficult period than the one we are currently experiencing.
But it is also thanks to him and his teammates that PSG is where it is today. So even if the road has been long, we must not forget each of these players who wore the Parisian jersey with pride and determination.
