On Thursday evening, the Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City women’s teams faced off at the PSG Campus during the third matchday of the 2026-2027 Women’s Champions League. Following a draw secured by PSG thanks to a late-game goal (1-1), PSG head coach Paulo César spoke to PSG TV.
Paulo César: “I am very happy and very proud of the girls.”
A fair result?
Yes, it’s a fair result. We knew we were up against a very good side—they’re currently top of the Premier League and have players of exceptional quality. We defended well and functioned effectively as a unit. We created chances to score; while we couldn’t convert in the first half, I thought the team looked really compact in the second. We conceded a penalty, but we responded very quickly. I am very happy and very proud of the girls. They stuck to the game plan, and they deserve this draw.
Paulo César: “We embraced the challenge, which speaks to the strength of this group.”
Does this team know how to fight until the very end?
I believe that is the strength of this collective. When the players are willing to endure—and the opposition was technically very strong—they embraced the challenge, which speaks to the strength of this group. It shows character and the personality of the players. They have been rewarded for all the effort they put in over the full 90 minutes.
