Marquinhos, Paris Saint-Germain’s 30-year-old central defender and captain, spoke to PSG TV on Thursday about his trip to Doha for Sunday’s Champions Trophy clash with AS Monaco (kick-off 5.30pm French time).
Marquinhos “Motivation to come back even stronger this season”.
How would you sum up the first half of the season?
It was an important first half, and the team is still evolving. The real moment of the season has arrived. We’re doing well in domestic competitions, and in the Champions League we’ve got everything to play for.
The eyes are shining, and that gives us the motivation to come back into this season even stronger. That’s what we have to do, starting with our match against Monaco on Sunday in the Champions Trophy.
Marquinhos “With a win at the end, that’s the most important thing.”
How do you see this match?
It’ll be difficult, like the last one. They’re a great team, as always. We saw the last one against them. There are a lot of twists and turns. They’re a team who aren’t afraid, who go forward, who press, who play great soccer. It’s going to be a pleasant match to play and watch. With a win at the end, that’s the most important thing.
What do you like about travelling as a team?
We spend a lot of time together every day, but at times like this we get closer, we eat together, and that’s good for the club too. What’s more, we’re off to a winning start.
