Dani Olmo, Spain’s 26-year-old attacking midfielder/winger, is supposedly under contract at FC Barcelona until 2030 following his transfer last summer from RB Leipzig. But the Catalan club’s financial worries mean that La Liga is currently refusing to sign him after January 2. All the more reason for attempts and rumors. Paris Saint-Germain is, unsurprisingly, involved. His agent Andy Bara spoke to journalist Fabrizio Romano and Give Me Sport about the situation.
“our position has not changed.”
“I can confirm that our position has not changed. We are not negotiating with any club. Dani is a Barça player and he wants to be a Barça player, he has made great efforts in his life to be in Barcelona. It’s something he’s wanted for a long time.
Other options or clubs? Barcelona is the first and last option. Dani, his father, his family, me… we’re not thinking about other options.”
While PSG and other clubs have already been mooted as options for the Spanish international, this statement is a clear reminder that the priority is to continue at Barça. The club is still working on a solution.
Of course, the position could be different if Dani Olmo is still blocked in a few weeks’ time. It would be logical for clubs to be on the lookout with the idea of strengthening their squad for the rest of the season, including the Champions League. But that’s a long way off at the moment.
