Kylian Mbappé, France’s 25-year-old striker, is now at Real Madrid following his departure from Paris Saint-Germain. However, not everything has yet been settled between the player and the club where he spent 7 years. The French international is in financial dispute with Paris over unpaid wages and bonuses, although PSG believes that an agreement had been reached. This Tuesday, AFP reports that the player has launched a new attempt with another request to the Ligue de Football Professionnel for the famous 55 million euros.
“Kylian Mbappé has appealed to the Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP) disciplinary committee for “failure to pay bonuses and wages” by Paris SG, according to AFP, which relies on a source inside the national body. A hearing, initially scheduled for November 27, will now take place on December 11.
The Disciplinary Committee is empowered to deal with any matter concerning a club that has failed to comply with a decision taken by another committee of the governing body, in this case the Legal Committee, which ordered PSG to pay the 55 million euros demanded on September 11. The scale of sanctions applies in its entirety, meaning that the Parisian club could be fined, banned from recruiting, but also have its points withdrawn, although the latter sanction seems unlikely in this specific case.”
It’s only logical that Mbappé shouldn’t let the matter drop, given that the authorities have been going in that direction up until now, without PSG having paid. We’re beginning to wonder how the club could do otherwise, when a major sanction could be forthcoming.
The reluctance is understandable, as the case is difficult, but we shouldn’t put ourselves at risk either. Maybe the club still has a hope, an asset that isn’t being used, or an authority that could help. It’s about time it came to the fore. If not, too bad, we’ll have to satisfy the player and finally turn the page completely.
