Having arrived in 2021 from Sporting Portugal, Nuno Mendes has been quick to show that he has great qualities. Unsurprisingly, Paris Saint-Germain wanted to secure the future of the 22-year-old left-back by extending his contract (which expires in 2026), and after what were rumoured to be difficult negotiations, this has now been agreed. According to L’Equipe, the official announcement will be made this evening before the match against Monaco (matchday 21 of Ligue 1). And it won’t be the only announcement on the players’ side. RMC Sport has added that of coach Luis Enrique.
“Nuno Mendes extends his contract at PSG until 2030. Paris will therefore be able to present all its extensions tonight before the match against Monaco, including Vitinha and Hakimi.”
“Luis Enrique’s contract extension will be made official this evening at PSG Monaco. Contract runs until 2027.”
It has been reported for some weeks now that PSG are waiting to close the Nuno Mendes deal before making a major announcement with several dossiers, including those of Vitinha (24-year-old midfielder) and Achraf Hakimi (26-year-old right-back). This may also be the case with coach Luis Enrique.
It’s possible that PSG will put in a great performance on Friday, which would be the perfect way to kick-start the next round of major fixtures, in particular the Champions League, which returns on Tuesday in the first leg of the play-off against Brest. In any case, it would be a landmark day for the Parisian project, with several key players officially extending their contracts.
