Having arrived in 2021 from Sporting Portugal, Nuno Mendes has quickly shown that he has great qualities. Unsurprisingly, Paris Saint-Germain were keen to secure the future of the 22-year-old left-back by extending his contract, which expires in 2026. RMC Sport gives details of his agreement with Paris.
““Nuno Mendes will be one of the 10 highest-paid players in the Paris Saint-Germain dressing room After some tension, positions between PSG and Nuno Mendes had moved closer in recent weeks with a view to an extension. As with all new contracts, his salary will be made up of a fixed part and a variable part linked to the number of matches played.”
“Nuno Mendes has indeed extended his contract until 2029, not 2030. Announcement this evening at the Parc des Princes on the sidelines of the clash against Monaco.”
While the Portuguese was among the lowest earners in the squad, which made sense when he first arrived, he should now be making his way to the top of the group. Which is also relatively logical given his importance today.
With a signature that runs until 2029, PSG now have a bit of leeway to assess what’s next, and some peace of mind in the face of possible attempts by other clubs. Even if we know that soccer can move very fast. For the moment at least, there’s a clear mutual trust. That’s always appreciated. All the more so after a little concern about a departure.
Perhaps at some point we’ll find out whether this option was really being considered, or whether his agent was simply trying to apply pressure in the negotiations.
