Rayan Cherki, the 21-year-old Olympique Lyonnais striker whose contract runs until 2026 following his extension last summer, has been announced as one of Paris Saint-Germain’s concrete targets for the summer mercato. Speaking at the UNFP Trophées (on beIN Sports), he slipped in a thinly veiled message to Parisian management.

Cherki “When you have a good affinity on the pitch, you feel it”.

Would you feel comfortable in the locker room with these boys ?

Yes, I know them all. Ousmane is a good friend of mine, Bradley too. So it’s obvious that when you have a good affinity on the pitch, you feel it.

Is that what you call a decisive pass for PSG’s sporting director ?

I don’t know (laughs).

Cherki’s message is easy to decipher, although one should always be wary of interpretations. The player makes it very clear that he wouldn’t say no to a ride in Luis Enrique’s team, with young players he knows well. Now, the mercato is not as simple as that, there are the desires of the coach, Luis Campos and finally, you have to consider the feasibility of the project. We recall that relations between Nasser Al-Khelaïfi and John Textor are cold, which makes the idea of a transfer almost utopian.
