Gianluigi Donnarumma, the 26-year-old goalkeeper who arrived at Paris Saint-Germain in 2021 with a contract running until 2026 (following the end of his own at AC Milan), is regularly called into question by fans and observers alike. An extension is currently under discussion, but is still uncertain despite the Italian’s stated desire. In fact, he reiterated this desire to Sky Italia after last night’s Champions League final win over Arsenal.
Donnarumma “All that’s left is to sign!”
“There’s time to discuss an extension. The choice is PSG’s: if they want me to stay, I’ll stay! All that’s left is to sign! I’m excited, we’re going to play a superb final. It’s going to be very exciting. The atmosphere was great, I’m very happy.
It’s nice to see a player so clear about his future. There’s no question of putting pressure on him or inviting other clubs to make an offer. Donnarumma is happy at PSG and intends to continue in the capital.
The club will have to agree and come to an agreement on the salary. Nothing is certain, although it’s safe to assume that Paris will be keen to continue with one of the world’s best goalkeepers. Even so, watch out for any surprises, such as a possible stalemate in negotiations. But that’s a long way off.
