Abdukodir Khusanov, the 20-year-old central defender from RC Lens (under contract until 2027) and Uzbekistan, has been announced as one of Paris Saint-Germain’s leads for the mercato, and the Lens club has made it known that it is listening to offers. Marc Mechenoua (Le Parisien) and Loic Tanzi (L’Équipe) claim that Luis Enrique is not keen on the player’s profile. They even mention a past interest in Illya Zabarnyi (Bournemouth), but the latter would not be “hot” at the idea of playing with Matvey Safonov. Both players are therefore unlikely to join us.
“Khusanov does not technically suit Luis Enrique. Named the butcher
Zabarny doesn’t want to be a conflict if he makes a mistake on a move with Safonov. The club had even considered selling the Russian, but the idea was abandoned.
They’re not coming!
Tanzi & Mechenoua.”
These are two leads that seem to be flying off the shelves. In the case of the Ukrainian, it’s mostly rumours that are being heard here and there. As for Khusanov, it’s not so surprising if Luis Enrique puts his foot down. We know that the Spaniard likes technical players, and Khusanov’s rough side could also put off a coach with such principles.
It’s a pity, because this is a young player whose club is aware that he will be leaving. But as things stand, we shouldn’t expect Khuasanov or Zabarny to come to Paris. We know that the balance of a dressing room counts for a lot in a club’s success. Luis Enrique is trying to put in place his dream team, the one he has in mind. Many profiles are going to be quoted in Paris, but we’ll have to sort them out and wait for more “official” announcements.
