Lucas Chevalier, the 23-year-old goalkeeper for Lille (contract runs until 2027) and the French national team, has been mentioned as a target for Paris Saint-Germain this summer. On Friday evening, L’Equipe reported that PSG had begun to position themselves in this very difficult dossier.
“At the moment, there is no subject”.
“The capital club has already positioned itself to welcome the Lille man next summer, by directly or indirectly informing all parties, and without having entered into official discussions.
Around the player, next summer is not at all a topic of conversation at the moment. We do know, however, that Paris is keeping a close eye on the situation. But between Lille’s high financial demands and the player’s medium-term ambitions, the field of possibilities (in terms of clubs) is fairly limited, and a departure this summer is by no means certain.
There’s a goalkeeper in place at PSG called Gianluigi Donnarumma who has expressed his desire to extend his contract (*),” insists Freddy Chevalier, the Lille man’s father. That would be disrespectful. At the moment, there’s nothing to discuss.
Fierce competition.
Several English clubs have also been keeping a close eye on the Lille man for the past two seasons (Manchester United, Aston Villa…), but there are no discussions at present. Napoli recently came into the picture. But the case is likely to be played out in more important spheres.
The sports paper relays the words of the player’s father, so it’s to be hoped that he has some indication of the intentions of the clubs and the goalkeeper for the future. But even so, it remains largely unclear.
PSG are said to have given some indications, but there is no mention of an offer or a clear desire to recruit. Nor are Chevalier’s entourage particularly open to the idea. Lille even less so. And if Lille and their keeper were to consider a transfer, Paris would not be the only destination.
So we remain cautious until we have more concrete information. Not forgetting, as Chevalier’s father points out, that Donnarumma is currently in Paris and would like to stay.
