Luis Campos arrived at Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2022, replacing sporting director Leonardo, but with a special role as “soccer advisor”. His track record is a regular topic of debate, and rumours of a departure have been circulating for months, along with those of a contract extension. While there were rumors of Saudi Arabia’s interest in the sports advisor, the Saudi federation took a firm stance on this “false” rumor. It’s reported by L’Equipe.
“The importance of relying on official sources and establishing direct contact”
“In response to recent media speculation regarding possible negotiations with the Portuguese Luis Campos, current technical advisor to Paris Saint-Germain, with a view to his appointment as head of the Federation’s technical management, the Saudi Football Federation would like to make it clear that this information is totally unfounded.
It stresses the importance of relying on official sources and establishing direct contact with its institutional communications department in order to guarantee the accuracy and reliability of the information disseminated.”
At least the rumour didn’t last long. It’s better this way, things are clear and we can move on. Campos is a sought-after sports consultant, because he has references, despite the criticism he has received. He has experience. Having said that, PSG would like him to extend his contract, and the agreement with Luis Enrique and the good work he’s been doing for some time now suggest that he could continue the adventure. We’ll be keeping a close eye on the matter.
