The 2024-2025 winter mercato has arrived (throughout January), so the rumors surrounding Paris Saint-Germain are piling up. Today, PSG Inside Actus reports that talks are underway with several internationals whose contracts expire next June: Joshua Kimmich (29-year-old Bayern Munich midfielder), Mohamed Salah (32-year-old Liverpool striker), Heung-Min Son (32-year-old Tottenham striker), Paulo Dybala (31-year-old AS Roma striker) and Leroy Sanรฉ (28-year-old Bayern Munich winger).
โParis Saint-Germain are preparing to strengthen their squad by signing players whose contracts expire in June. Potential targets include soccer stars such as Joshua Kimmich, Mohamed Salah, Heung-Min Son, Paulo Dybala and Leroy Sanรฉ. These are just the first discussions. It’s certain that not all of them will come. But if Paris can sign one of them, they will.โ
We’re cautious, there’s nothing official at the moment. Salah’s case has been discussed for some time now, and oscillates between a small hope and an extension that is taking shape at Liverpool. As for Kimmich, he was the talk of the summer, but it was impossible to conclude a transfer without knowing whether the blockage came from the player or Bayern Munich. Or simply that PSG had not made a concrete offer.
Dybala is an old prospect who could be revived by his contractual situation, while Son has been mentioned a few times. Sanรฉ used to be a much sought-after winger, but he’s in more difficulty today.
They’re all very talented players, of course. The question is whether PSG want them in their project today. Some say they don’t, since recruitment has focused on young talent. But Paris doesn’t have to recruit only youngsters for the rest of their lives. First and foremost, we needed to rebuild a strong team on sound foundations so that we could grow.
It’s hard to say no to a great player if the opportunity is there. It remains to be seen who can be a real asset by joining the team and accepting the competition. Given the current season, it seems complicated to turn down Kimmich or Salah.
Now, let’s wait and see if a discussion does indeed take place. Then we’d have to fight for an agreement, which is conceivable but very complicated.
