João Neves, the 21-year-old midfielder for Paris Saint-Germain (2nd in Ligue 1), held a press conference this Monday ahead of facing AS Monaco (8th) at the Stade Louis II tomorrow (kick-off at 9pm, CET) in the first leg of the 2025-2026 Champions League play-off (second leg on Wednesday, February 25). On the sidelines of this event, the Portuguese player also spoke to PSG TV.
Neves: “There’s a good atmosphere in the group, we’re motivated.”
How are you? How’s the group?
There’s a good atmosphere in the group, we’re motivated. We can’t wait for tomorrow. It’s a Champions League match, everyone wants to see it, to play in it. I think it’s the most prestigious competition.
Does playing against Monaco in the Champions League change anything?
I don’t think it changes anything. It’s both positive and negative; we know them, they know us. We’re going to try to play a good match, with our style of play. That way, we’ll be a little closer to victory.
Will the fans’ support be important?
Of course, throughout the match it’s important to have the fans we have, the best in the world. It will be a little easier with them; there’s even more joy in playing.
