FC Nantes hosted Paris Saint-Germain this Sunday evening for the first matchday of Ligue 1. It was a match that felt like a warm-up for the capital club, which lacked preparation, but which nevertheless won 1-0 against the Canaries. FC Nantes midfielder Johann Lepenant spoke to Ligue 1+ to reflect on this frustrating defeat:
Lepenant: “We fought until the end”
Is it frustrating?
It’s frustrating, we gave it our all. I think we tried to be as solid as possible, and we were. We conceded a goal against, and Anthony couldn’t do anything. That’s football, but I think it’s positive. We have to keep this mentality, stick together like tonight, and if we continue, we’ll get good results.
Were you resilient?
Yes, I think it’s important. It was tough, but I’m happy with the team because we fought until the end. We could have done better on two or three occasions, but that’s how it is.
