As it does after every Matchday of championship, L’Équipe has established its team of the year for the first matchday of Ligue 1 2025-2026, which was played this weekend. With their 0-1 victory against Nantes at the Stade de la Beaujoire, Paris Saint-Germain has not seen any of its players selected.
It’s a slight surprise, even though PSG weren’t brilliant against Nantes, who mostly defended. But we expected to find Vitinha, who was praised by all, as he organized Paris’s game by being the master of the midfield. It was also thanks to his deflected shot that Paris won.
But it’s not unreasonable to see a different selection either, as there were other great performances in Ligue 1 this weekend. So much the better; it’s a sign of the quality in the league.
