Warren Zaïre-Emery, the 20-year-old Paris Saint-Germain midfielder, stopped in the mixed zone after the 4-0 victory against Nice this Saturday at the Allianz Riviera in the 27th round of the 2025-2026 Ligue 1 season.
Zaïre-Emery: “What we’re doing isn’t easy.”
What were your feelings after the victory?
It was after a Champions League match. I think we played well. We came here for this, that was the objective. Today we’re leaving with the 3 points and we’ll go to the national team camp with peace of mind, being top of the table.
Were you expecting the difficulties?
You know, away Ligue 1 matches are always difficult. People think we should win everything 3, 4, or 5-0, but what we’re doing isn’t easy. It’s tough to do in every match. We just have to enjoy these moments and build confidence. I think that’s what we did well tonight.
Zaïre-Emery: “As long as I’m playing, I’m happy.”
Was it a good challenge for the upcoming matches?
You know, all matches are tough. They try to press us, to play with intensity. For us, the goal is to relieve that pressure, to be as high up the pitch as possible, to play in their half. I think it was a good match, a good challenge. We’re going to try to keep this momentum going and win matches, because Lens is having a great season.
How are you feeling physically? Are you the player with the most minutes?
As long as I’m playing, I’m happy. I’ll need to rest well, get treatment. I’m here to help the team, the collective.
Zaïre-Emery: “It’s always interesting to have a team that challenges us.”
You mentioned Lens, how does it feel to have a real rival this season?
It’s always interesting to have a team that challenges us. We can’t afford any mistakes; we have to play our best every match.
Does playing a lot of matches make you a better player?
That might be true (smiles). But I don’t know, if I keep playing regularly, how I’ll be at the end of the season. I prefer to play regularly, but those are the coach’s decisions. As long as I’m playing, I’m happy. I think it’s good for me to play regularly and get into a rhythm, to keep this momentum going.
Zaïre-Emery: “What he’s doing is just magnificent for his age.”
A word on Dro Fernandez after his first goal?
He’s a great player, younger than me. What he’s doing is simply magnificent for his age. He needs to keep going like this, maintain this self-confidence, and we’ll be there to support him and put him in the best possible conditions.
Zaïre-Emery: “If I need to fill in, no problem.”
Ready to play right-back for the French national team?
As long as I’m playing, the position doesn’t matter. I have no problem with it. At club level, I play right-back or midfield. If I need to fill in, no problem.
