Warren Zaïre-Emery, Paris Saint-Germain’s 18-year-old midfielder, suffered an injury to his left ankle during Wednesday’s 1-4 win over Stuttgart on Matchday 8 of the Champions League 2024-2025 league phase. PSG has issued an official statement about his injury, as well as that of João Neves (20-year-old midfielder).
“Warren Zaïre-Emery is suffering from a sprained left ankle. The length of his absence will depend on how the injury progresses over the next few days.
João Neves received a blow to the right foot during the match in Stuttgart. He will remain under treatment for the next few days.”
After weeks of the PSG infirmary being emptied, things start to go wrong. It’s painful, but logical in the course of a season. Especially as it doesn’t look serious for Neves, who should play again next weekend against Monaco (21st day of Ligue 1).
It will take longer for Zaïre-Emery, but we couldn’t really have hoped for better than this sprain, given the blow received. At least he seems to be avoiding a really long absence. Even if there will be several matches, including, certainly, the Champions League play-off (February 11-12 and 18-19).
