Fabian Ruiz, 29-year-old Paris Saint-Germain midfielder, is among the players called up for the September break (which began this Monday) with Spain. But La Roja released a statement today announcing his withdrawal.
“Official! Fabian Ruiz is absent from the national team squad. The international midfielder arrived with muscle discomfort and, after examinations by the national team’s medical services, has left the training camp.”
This is bad news, of course, since it’s a player’s injury. But it’s not necessarily dramatic. It could be primarily a precautionary measure, given that the international break passes quickly and we shouldn’t push ourselves too hard. The idea may be to let Ruiz recover slowly. But, of course, we’re also wary of an absence that lasts a while. Let’s wait for more details.
