Nordi Mukiele, the 27-year-old central defender/lateral midfielder, arrived at Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2022, but has failed to make an impact. Hampered by injuries, especially in 2023, and little used by coach Luis Enrique, he was loaned to Bayer Leverkusen without an option to buy for the 2024-2025 season, although his contract runs out in June 2027. The German club announced the player’s departure on Saturday.
This does not preclude subsequent negotiations for a transfer, but this is not the trend at the moment. It’s certainly goodbye for good, while the change of coach (Xabi Alonso has left to join Real Madrid) brings other plans.
It remains to be seen what PSG’s plans are for Mukiele. Certainly a sale, but we don’t know the price or the destination. And soccer can be very surprising.
