Lee Kang-In, the 25-year-old South Korean midfielder/forward who joined Paris Saint-Germain from Mallorca in 2023, never quite managed to fully establish himself. While there were flashes of brilliance, he lacked the consistency to truly cement his status. He is now departing during the 2026 transfer window, with his move to Atlético Madrid officially confirmed today.
Lee always demonstrated great determination both on and off the pitch; it is almost a shame he didn’t quite make the expected leap forward in Paris. However, his time at the club was by no means a failure. The South Korean played an important role at times, and it is clear that breaking into the starting lineup at PSG was a particularly difficult challenge.
We can only thank him for his professionalism and wish him the best at his new club, where he should find more opportunities to play. For the record, media reports estimate the transfer fee at around €40 million—a figure that seems quite satisfactory, given that he originally arrived for €22 million.
