Willian Pacho, 23-year-old defender for Paris Saint-Germain (since this summer) and Ecuador (22 caps), was the subject of a report on Canal Football Club. This was an opportunity to talk about his role as an example in his hometown and the importance of Marquinhos (30-year-old Paris defender and captain) to him.
Pacho “It pleases me to see young people looking up to me and following my example.”
Faced with a video with children who say they take him as an example:
I’m happy to see this video, the field where I used to train as a kid (smile). It’s great to see what it’s like and to see young people watching me and following my example.
After the words of praise from his former trainer, who was in tears when he spoke of him:
He’s a very important person for me. He helped me a lot in my early days because I often didn’t train because I had to study. And sometimes, he would make sacrifices. For example, if I had classes in the morning, he’d do the afternoon training for me and then drop me off at home.
Pacho “I’d like to behave like that in the future.”
Marquinhos as a mentor?
He was one of the first people who talked to me when I arrived and tried to guide me. I always behave a bit like he does, the way he sees things, the way he talks in the dressing room. I’d like to behave like that in the future.
