Paris Saint-Germain lost 2-1 to Paris FC this Sunday at the Stade Jean Bouin in Matchday 34 of the 2025-2026 Ligue 1 season. Speaking to PSG TV, Marquinhos, the 32-year-old Parisian defender and captain, commented on the defeat.
Marquinhos: “We have a very important objective to achieve in two weeks.”
“This isn’t the result we wanted, nor the performance we wanted today. There are still things to work on, and we mustn’t let our morale and energy drop now. We have a very important objective to achieve in two weeks, and we’ll see what the coach has to say. He’s going to give us a dressing down, that’s for sure, because in terms of performance, commitment, and the final result, there are lessons to be learned from this match.”
Marquinhos: “We’ll motivate ourselves during these two weeks of training.”
“But there’s an exciting end to the season, and even though we lost today, we still have a very important goal to achieve. As I said, our energy needs to be higher for the next two weeks. We’ll motivate ourselves during these two weeks of training to go for that title and that dream of winning our second star.”
A result and a defeat that are merely anecdotal for this PSG side, who were playing their last Ligue 1 match away from home after securing the title. It’s clear that PFC wanted to make a strong statement and finish in style in front of their home crowd with this victory against their Parisian rivals. Luis Enrique’s men clearly lacked commitment in this match.
The intensity wasn’t there, and naturally, in these conditions, it’s difficult to win a match. The Parisians now have a Champions League final to prepare for in 15 days against Arsenal. No doubt all eyes are already on this clash which could further cement the capital club’s place in European and French football history.
