Paris Saint-Germain’s final Ligue 1 match of the season was against their city rivals, Paris FC. It was a meaningless game for the Rouge et Bleu, who had already secured the title and were focused on the Champions League final on May 30th. Despite Luis Enrique’s men taking the lead, they succumbed to a late 2-1 defeat. PSG midfielder João Neves spoke to Ligue1+ to share his immediate reactions.
João Neves: “We want to arrive in Budapest with the best possible PSG.”
Your coach was very angry. What did he say to you after this defeat?
I have nothing to say. We don’t like losing matches like that. I think he has the right attitude right now because we didn’t play the match we should have, we didn’t manage to do the things we usually do, and we’re going to improve with these mistakes. We’re going to improve for the final because it’s the last match of the season for us. We want to arrive in Budapest with the best possible PSG.
How did you experience this match? The worst of the three years, as Luis Enrique says?
I don’t know, I wasn’t there the first year. He’s the best coach I know, and if he said that, it’s because it’s true. He’s very angry with us because we didn’t give our all, and that shouldn’t happen.
Ousmane? “I think it’s not serious.”
How is Ousmane?
I think he’s fine, but even though I haven’t spoken to him, I don’t think it’s serious.
Did Luis Enrique shout?
No, no, he doesn’t shout. The coach just tells us what to do.
