Javier Pastore, former Argentinian attacking midfielder (29 caps) who notably played for Paris Saint-Germain (2011-2018), retired from playing in 2023 and recently launched a career as an agent. During an event at the Parc des Princes, he was invited by Top Mercato to give his opinion on Dro Fernandez, the 18-year-old midfielder who left FC Barcelona to sign with PSG this winter and took the number 27, the number that Dro wore in Paris and had been retired since his departure.
Pastore: “I think Dro has talent to spare.”
“He has class, I really enjoy watching this lad play. He’s still very young. His time will come in Paris, I’m sure of it. He has the profile to play for this PSG. He’s already played and shown a lot of positive things.
I’m very happy that it’s a player like him who inherited the number 27, which was mine, and which people associate with beautiful play and talent. I believe Dro has talent to spare. I’m very happy that he’s wearing my number and I’m sure he’ll have a lot of success for many years to come here in Paris.”
Dro will surely appreciate such words from a player who is important in PSG’s history. Especially with that famous number 27 in common, which the Spaniard can wear with a footballing class reminiscent of Pastore’s. Their game is clearly not based on physical strength, but rather on technical skill and vision. Although the former Barça player will likely need to improve his athleticism in duels.
It remains clear that his potential is great. Since arriving this winter, the midfielder has already shown impressive qualities and has managed to adapt quickly to the style of play. Of course, he still needs to work to fully establish himself and have a memorable spell at PSG. Pastore believes in himself, and we won’t argue with him.
